The Transfer Student Center & Recruitment unit recognizes that transferring can be a daunting process. Our goal is to prepare students for success by helping them understand the application process and admission criteria, giving general information on majors and programs, and fostering communication with the appropriate department(s). We offer guidance and resources to prospective and incoming transfer students to facilitate a smoother transition to City Tech. Our services include:
Students who previously attended any college, university or proprietary school since graduating from high school or earning their high school equivalency diploma are considered transfers. CUNY policy requires that all students who have attended college, no matter how long ago, must apply as a Transfer Student and submit transcripts from all post-secondary educational institutions.
Admission to City Tech as a transfer student is based upon the student's high school and college academic record. Students without an associate degree will be considered for transfer admission based on the number of credits completed, cumulative GPA, and competency in English and Mathematics.
Applicants educated outside of the United States must have their records reviewed and vetted by one of the Approved Evaluation Services or the University Application Processing Center (UAPC) prior to admission.
Students who have earned a CUNY associate degree (AA, AS, or AAS) are guaranteed admission to the College, although not necessarily to the program they are requesting. If you transfer to CUNY with an AA or AS degree from an accredited institution, you are guaranteed at least 60 credits toward a 120-credit bachelor's degree.
Applications received by the University Applications Processing Center before September 15 for spring admission and before February 15 for fall admission will be processed first. Applications received after those deadlines will be processed on a space-available basis. Students who have missed the online application deadline can also apply via Direct Transfer Admission.
